Making a booking
How to book an aircraft, instructor or room, and what happens the moment you try to confirm it.
Last reviewed
Open the schedule, pick a resource and a time, and confirm. Before the booking is accepted it is checked against everything it depends on, so you either get a confirmed booking or a clear reason it cannot stand.
Booking
- Open the schedule.
- Choose the resource: an aircraft, an instructor, a simulator or a room.
- Pick the time.
- Add the student and the exercise if it is a lesson.
- Confirm.
What happens when you confirm
The booking is validated in one pass: the student, the instructor, the aircraft, licences and medicals, and your school's own rules. Every check is made for the time of the flight, not the moment you are booking. See What the schedule checks before it accepts a booking for the full list.
You get one of three answers: it confirms, it is blocked with a reason, or it is a warning an authorised person can override. If it blocks, the reason names the cause so you can fix it. See Why was a booking blocked?.
Changing a booking
Open the booking to move, shorten or cancel it. A change is re-checked the same way, because moving a flight to a new time can change what it depends on.
