How FlyerOS tracks life-limited components with their hours, cycles and installation history, so remaining life accrues correctly across every aircraft a part has flown on.

A life-limited component has a finite life measured in hours, cycles or calendar time, after which it must come off. FlyerOS holds each one as a tracked component, not a note in a folder, so its remaining life is always current.

What a component carries

Each component records its part number and serial number, its life limit, and its running totals:

  • TSN and TSO, time since new and time since overhaul.
  • CSN, cycles since new, where the limit is in cycles or landings.
  • Its installation history, every aircraft it has been fitted to, and when.

Life accrues where it flies

When a component is installed on an aircraft, it accrues life from that aircraft's flying. Move it to another airframe and it keeps its history, so remaining life is correct across every aircraft the part has flown on, not reset each time it moves.

It reaches the due-list

A component approaching its limit appears in the maintenance due-list like any other requirement, with the latest date the aircraft can still be booked before the part is out of life. A component at its limit grounds the aircraft in the schedule automatically, the same way a check does.
